But I’ll tell you one thing about the autumn season. Do not plan to trek in Sikkim in September. In September, the possibility of rainfall is very high in Sikkim.

If you want to be in Sikkim for local sightseeing, September is ok if you don’t mind the rain. It is ok to be in towns like Gangtok, Namchi, and Ravangla because the road network is solid in these places. Above all, there are lots to see at this destination.

Are you traveling to Sikkim in September? Then do not forget to carry waterproof raincoats or umbrellas. Further in October and November, stuffs your bag with warm clothes.

If you don’t know, there is a famous trek called Goechala Trek in Sikkim. This trek completes in 9 to 8 days and is for those who want to reach the foothills of the Himalayas.

December will be an ideal month to visit Sikkim in Winter. But, the temperature begins to fall to an extreme. So don’t forget to load your travel bags with warm clothes.

It is impossible to attempt the highest point in winter. High points are Gurudongmar Lake, North Sikkim, and the Goechala trek. Yet, if you are a snow lover, I have good news. We have a short five-day winter trek in Sikkim known as Dzongri Trek.

Trip to Sikkim in January and February;

If you visit Sikkim in January and February, Then be ready to endure the cold. During a gloomy day, the temperature drop will make your teeth chatter. When the sun is shy, the temperature drop is so high!

When writing this article, “best time to visit Sikkim,” I am in Geyzing West Sikkim. The altitude of Geyzing is 1520 meters, and I found it cold. In January and February, Sun goes into hideout most of the time. I was hibernating inside the room, covered with a blanket.

When my friends asked; Do you want to go outdoor, man? Me; nope, I am not going to do that!😁

It is impossible to trek above 3500 meters in January and February. Yet, you can still go to some of the most romantic destinations. You can visit Pelling, Yuksom, Ravangla, Gangtok, and Namchi.

Higher altitudes in Sikkim above 2000 meters receive heavy snowfall during the winter. When the snow decorates the higher Himalayas, you can expect heavy rainfall at a lower height.

Best months to visit Sikkim in Spring;

March, April, and May are the idlest months to visit Sikkim in the spring season. The Spring seasons are the period for flowers; hence you can plan for a rhododendron trek in Sikkim. Yumthang Valley is another best destination to visit in the spring in Sikkim.

Species of Magnolias and Rhododendrons decorate the mountainous region above 1000 meters. So, this flora of Sikkim begins to bloom during the spring, adding charisma to the trails.

The probability of rain is 30 to 40 % during the early spring season. Furthermore, the temperature is much more reliable compared to winter. So, spring is another best time to visit Sikkim.

Visiting Sikkim in monsoon;

Sikkim receives the heaviest rainfall during the monsoon. And can create problems for outdoor activities. Visit only the famous towns if you want to visit Sikkim in the monsoon.

National highways connect notable cities like Gangtok and Namchi. So, roads get restored fast in case of blockages on these routes. It is not suitable to Go on a long hike in Sikkim during the monsoon.

Sikkim suffers from constant road blockages and landslides in hilly areas. Hiking can be risky during the rainy season.

Thus I conclude that the monsoon season is not the best time to visit Sikkim.
